May 2026 production update

1X Opens U.S. Production Facility in Oxnard, California

1X opened its first U.S. production facility in Oxnard, California in early 2026, giving the NEO program a dedicated American final-assembly and quality-testing base. The site is roughly 50,000 square feet and is initially sized for 1,000+ NEO units per year.

The factory’s near-term focus is final assembly and quality testing of NEO Beta units. 1X says commercial units are scheduled to ship to pilot customers in the Q2–Q3 2026 window, starting with selected enterprise users before broader scale-up.

NEO Beta launch

Select enterprise customers are receiving NEO Beta units for workplace pilots across office mobility, light manufacturing assist, and security/monitoring workflows.

Why the hardware matters

NEO’s cable-driven actuation is designed to be significantly quieter and safer around humans than conventional electric motor-heavy humanoids, while its 30kg body makes it one of the lightest commercially targeted humanoids.
